Mildred Altamirano

Mrs. Altamirano joined the JAG NJ team in September 2025 as the JAG Specialist at Barringer High School. She brings more than 11 years of instructional experience as both a high school teacher and adjunct professor, combined with over 18 years of corporate business expertise. Prior to entering education, she held leadership roles with multinational corporations in the areas of import, export, logistics, budgeting, and taxation, including her work as a Tax expert Lead and Manager at Intuit. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration and International Business from New Jersey City University and an MBA from Washington State University. Certified as a Teacher of Comprehensive Business and in Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Mrs. Altamirano has taught at Clifton High School, New Jersey City University, Caldwell University, and Pillar College.

She was drawn to the JAG model because of its strong focus on leadership, employability, and career readiness, and she is especially committed to supporting Barringer’s large bilingual student population by leveraging her fluency in both English and Spanish.

Fun fact: Mrs. Altamirano loves traveling and exploring other cultures, and enjoys spending time with her family and her Old English Sheepdog, Daisy.
