NJCCF Accounting Manager Position-April Start

Job Summary

The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Foundation (NJCCF) is a 501(c)(3) organization that has leveraged the power of New Jersey’s business community to influence student outcomes for nearly 30 years. With an annual budget of approximately $3 million, the NJCCF supports current and future members of the workforce in becoming globally competitive, successful members of society and fuels New Jersey’s economy by sustaining a qualified workforce.  The NJCCF is the state affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), a nationally recognized youth workforce development program and the organization’s flagship initiative.

The Accounting Manager for the NJCCF is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract negotiations, procurement, and financial reporting. This role ensures the organization’s financial stability through diligent management of budgets, bank accounts (checking, money market, and certificates of deposit), and day-to-day financial activities. In addition to financial responsibilities, the Accounting Manager coordinates procurement and provides administrative and logistical support for internal meetings, conferences, and student events.

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the President of the NJCCF and plays a critical role in supporting the administrative, fiscal, and operational needs of the organization.

The current Accounting Manager is scheduled to retire on June 30, 2026. The NJCCF intends to hire the incoming Accounting Manager with a target start date of April 6, 2026, allowing for a structured transition and overlap period to support training, knowledge transfer, and continuity of financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Oversight:

  • Manage cash receipts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and accurate recording of all transactions.
  • Prepare and issue invoices, track outstanding balances, and collaborate with clients and partners to resolve unpaid accounts.
  • Execute petty cash operations, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of all cash-related transactions.
  • Collaborate with the President of the NJCCF to prepare and monitor annual budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Prepare quarterly statements of financial position, statements of activities, and other financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports with required supporting documentation for state, private, and corporate grants, ensuring compliance with grantor requirements and performing monthly or quarterly expenditure reconciliations as required.
  • Ensure timely filing of all required tax returns, business certifications, and 1099 forms, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Provide fiduciary oversight of all NJCCF bank accounts, including monitoring daily banking activities, ACH transfers, incoming grant funding, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial records and safeguard the NJCCF’s financial resources.

Contract Negotiation and Procurement:

  • Lead contract negotiations with vendors, suppliers, and partners for all NJCCF events, including student conferences.
  • Manage the procurement of supplies and services, ensuring cost-effective solutions that meet the NJCCF’s operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to support the NJCCF’s programs and events.

Administrative and Conference Support:

  • Coordinate and schedule internal meetings, specialist team meetings, and staff events, ensuring efficient communication and scheduling.
  • Organize JAG NJ site visits, both announced and unannounced, to support program oversight and accountability.
  • Provide administrative support for the NJCCF, ensuring smooth daily operations and timely internal communication.
  • Coordinate logistics for in-state conferences, including student registration, travel arrangements, and venue coordination.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all NJCCF conferences, ensuring seamless operations and positive attendee experiences.
  • Follow up with JAG NJ programs to ensure timely submission of required documentation, including photo releases and monthly reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, audits, and grant-funded programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and QuickBooks online for non-profits.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and overseeing procurement processes.

Compensation and Benefits: The Accounting Manager position offers a salary range of $70,000–$81,000, commensurate with experience.

The NJCCF offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% employer match that is immediately vested, long-term disability insurance, and life insurance. Employees receive 19 prorated paid time off days in their first year, paid holidays including seven federal holidays and up to seven additional holidays at the discretion of the President of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. The position is based in a historic Trenton brownstone and offers a hybrid work schedule.
